David L. Kane has over fifteen years of experience in the areas of Bankruptcy, Reorganization and Creditors’ Rights.  Mr. Kane represents Chapter 7 and Chapter 11 debtors, secured and unsecured creditors, financial institutions, asset purchasers, Chapter 7 trustees, assignees, and equity security holders in a variety of bankruptcy and out-of court matters.  He has experience in almost every facet of complex bankruptcy and insolvency proceedings, including plan confirmations, cash collateral and debtor-in-possession financing, section 363 sale transactions, real estate and equipment leasing disputes, and claims administration, as well as preference, fraudulent transfer and the prosecution and defense of bankruptcy adversary litigation.  David also has an active practice in the areas of Workout and Foreclosure, and specializes in the representation of private equity purchasers in sales of real estate, assets and notes/loan documents.

Prior to joining Crane, Simon, Clar & Dan, Mr. Kane was a partner and co-chair of the bankruptcy group at Meltzer. Purtill & Stelle LLC from 2007 to 2017, and an associate in the Chicago bankruptcy groups of Freeborn & Peters LLP from 2003 to 2006 and Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP from 2002 to 2003.
Mr, Kane has been recognized as a Rising Star in Bankruptcy & Creditor/Debtor Rights by Illinois Super Lawyers magazine in 2009 and 2010, and as a Leading Lawyer in the areas of both Bankruptcy & Workout Law: Commercial and Creditor's Rights/Commercial Collections Law in 2017.
